New Linen fabrics Hand Picked by Nora
32 count Linens Hand Picked by Nora. New at Julie’s Cross Stitch
There are several new linen fabrics in the Hand PIcked by Nora (Nora Corbett of Mirabilia cross stitch pattern designs) out this season and available at Julie’s X Stitch.
Linen Hand Picked by Nora - 32ct - Sea Spray
Linen Hand Picked by Nora - 32ct - Sunshower
Linen Hand Picked by Nora - 32ct - Violet Mist
Linens have the appearance of a basket weave. Linen offers a more “old fashioned” look to a piece. The fabric has a very “crisp” feel. They are more difficult to use then Aidas because it requires more skill to control the tension of the floss for even stitches. Linens are great for detailed designs and experienced stitchers. Linens are generally stitched over two. They come in several different counts with 32 and 28 counts being the most prevalent. When stitched over two, 32 count becomes a 16 count, and 28 count becomes a 14 count. Linen and Linen Blends come in many, many different colors. There are several types of linen to choose from like Belfast, Cashel, Betsy Ross, Chester, Cork, Country French, Dublin, Edinburgh, Glasgow, Graziano, Hand Dyed, Hardanger, Pearl, Rosenstand, Silk, and Weaver. Betsy Ross Linen comes in 10 count and it is made of 100% linen woven in an unique fashion ( Similar to Aida weave) to give it the old rustic look. Ideal for the ”tired eye” projects as well as any designs of your choice.

Gingher Scissors at Julie’s Cross Stitch
History of Gingher Scissors
For over 54 years, Gingher has been recognized as the premier line of cutting implements for home sewing, crafts, needlework and industry. Gingher believes that their success is due to their heritage of quality craftsmanship. Using a method that is centuries old, Gingher’s skilled technicians hot-drop forge our scissors and shears from high carbon cutlery steel. Many grinding and polishing operations are still performed by hand to ensure a flawless appearance and sharp cutting all the way to the points. The setting of the blades, points, and tension is also done by hand for high performance and longevity. Each pair is then carefully inspected in order to maintain Gingher’s exacting standards. It is Gingher’s unerring dedication to quality that has made Gingher scissors and shears more widely used in the American textile and fiber industries than any other brand.Gingher scissors are some of my favorite cutting tools. I love the different designs and the collectors series they come out with season after season. The most recent in their line of designer sheers is the Sonia Collection. Beautiful red handles w/ small flowers. I have already ordered some for myself.

“Catch the Wind” by Butternut Road
This is my latest project completed, but not framed yet. It is called “Catch the Wind” and it was designed by Marilyn Leavitt Imblum. It is from her Butternut Road line. I love this pattern. I plan to frame it with a blue mat and black frame and hang it in my daughters room. I stitched the pattern on 28 count Plum blossom Jobelan fabric (Jobelan one of my favorite fabrics to stitch project on). It is a very soft, supple fabric that is easy to use. An evenweave.

Arm Chair Craft (Cross Stitch) bag organizer
Here is a great new Armchair crafts bag organizer from DMC. I just bought one for myself. I am always on the look out for ways to organize my craft projects around my chair where I do most of the stitching. When I saw this I was so excited. What a great idea! I am constantly dropping needles, scissors, floss, etc. that I am working with on my chair. Now I will have these great, accessible pockets to hold my stuff while I stitch.
Rests on arm chair or sofa. Deep pockets to store supplies. It even has a removable pin cushion. Button to hold loose thread. Snap loop to hold scissors. Beautiful blue fabric. Size 12.25″ w x 20″ h.
