New Lugana fabrics

There are some beautiful new colors in 25 count Lugana and 32 count Lugana fabric coming out.  I will be getting each in stock over the next few weeks.  Lugana is great for cross stitch and is my favorite fabric for Hardanger.  It is a soft, heavy fabric that is nice to work with.

New colors in 32 count are Cream, Green, Light Blue, Exotic Orchid, Forest Green, Platinum and Stone Gray.

Having trouble choosing a fabric color for your Cross Stitch?

It can be challenging to see the true color of a fabric on your computer screen when you shop.  Most people that do cross stitch and needlework have DMC floss around, so I spent several hours creating a chart that has all the fabric colors we carry (other than hand dyed) listed and the DMC floss number that matches the fabric listed with it to give you a better idea what color the fabric really is.  It is a great tool in our arsenal of cross stitch tools.

Cross Stitch Fabric Manufacturers

We carry only quality cross stitch  fabric at Julie’s X Stitch.  Zweigart provides most of our fabric.  They have been in the industry for 100 years.  They have two mills, one in Germany and one in Switzerland.  Zweigart is considered a leader in the fabric industry.  We also carry fabrics from Permin of Copenhagen, distributed through Wichelt.  Permin has also been in the business for many, many years and they provide quality products.   We also carry some Charles Craft specialty fabrics like afghans, bibs, and other stitchables.   The sure fire way to identify a Zweigart fabric is to look for the orange thread woven into the selvedge.  We also carry other types of fabric from Zweigart for things like Swedish Weaving.  We make every attempt to label fabrics correctly with  the manufacturer.  Always be assured the fabric is of the best quality available.

Pinterest, Cross Stitch and Crafts

Pinterest is the newest idea in social media.  It serves itself well to crafts and people who enjoy crafts like needlework, cross stitch and Hardanger, just to name a few. It’s mostly pictures that users share of things they are interested in, or projects they have created.  It is a great place to see what is new at our store and also to see all the cross stitch, Hardanger, and Swedish Weaving  projects I have worked on over the years.  But beware, once you get started it’s hard to stop. ha

New Cross Stitch patterns, Heaven and Earth

There are several new patterns out by Heaven and Earth this week.  They generally advise that you do their patterns stitched over one on a 25 count fabric like Lugana or Dublin Linen.  If you are not comfortable with that small of a count, 20 and 18 count Aida will work nicely as well.  The goal is to preserve as much detail in the design as possible.  They have a special method of creating their patterns which helps to eliminate the confetti stitching that can be so tiresome.  They patterns are a challenge, but are so BEAUTIFUL when they are completed.  You will be proud of yourself for putting the time in.

Aida Country French Fabric (Cross Stitch)

Aida Country French is a very luxurious, soft Aida fabric.  It is a favorite among cross stitch enthusiasts.   It comes in a few very neutral colors that are perfect for most projects.  The colors we carry in Aida Country French include Antique Gold, Cashmere,  Cappuccino, Ivory and Old Lace.    It drapes nicely and is perfect for baby quilts, clothing and other washable projects.  It is important to surge the edges with a zig zag stitch to keep it from fraying.

August Peridot Fairy-MD122 by Mirabilia

New this month from Nora Corbett is August  Peridot Fairy-MD122.  Mirabilia cross stitch patterns have long been my favorite.   Nora is incredible at using color and style in all of her patterns. They are all quality patterns with little to no confetti stitching.  They are fun and relaxing to stitch.  My walls are adorned with many of her cross stitch patterns that I have stitched over the years.  The pattern is stitched on 32 count Milk Chocolate linen.  A beautiful choice, and neutral.  You can also easily substitute 16 count Milk Chocolate Aida instead if you do not prefer Linen.  The pattern will be the same size on both fabrics.  We also have all the cross stitch supplies, like embellishments and floss, you will need to complete August Peridot Fairy.

New 14 count Aida fabrics are IN!

I just received a HUGE box of new 14 count Aida fabric colors yesterday from Zweigart.  They are very unique.   They have almost a hand dyed effect to them with shading of the color in the fabric.  The fabrics will surely add dimension to any cross stitch or needlework project you choose to use them for.  We have taken large picture of the fabric to show the amazing color changes.   Just click on the picture to enlarge.
