Waste Canvas is used when you want to cross stitch on a fabric not made for cross stitch, like jean material. You baste the canvas on a section of cloth that you wish to stitch on. Then you stitch your cross stitch design using the waste canvas as your guide. Once you are finished, you just get the waste canvas wet and pull it apart and then you are just left with your design showing on your fabric (ex. jean material).
Tips for waste canvas
1. Use a sharp crewel needle rather than a tapestry needle when stitching on fabrics not make for cross stitch.
2. It’s a good idea to baste some interface fabric between your fabric for your design and your waste canvas.
3. Make sure you cross stitches are tightly stitched. No spaces between x’s.
4. Do not soak your waste canvas to remove it. It should be carefully moistened. It will be easier to remove that way.

We are proud to announce a new cross stitch kit line at Julie’s X Stitch called Maia kit. They are gorgeous kits that include graphs, Anchor floss, fabric and instructions. I am very excited about these kits. They are reproductions of some incredible art work by various artists. My favorites are the Oriental kits. The first one I am going to do is Winters Majesty.

Completing the series by Nora Corbett, “Autumn Queen” takes her place beside “Winter Queen”, “Spring Queen”, and “Summer Queen” in a royal celebration of the seasons. Gowned in shades of mauve and teal, and bedecked with a king’s ransom worth of jewels, her sumptuous cloak is a Wisper-edged wonder of olive, ebony and metallic bronze brocade.
