  • New cross stitch fabrics at Julie’s X Stitch

Date: 2009.06.29 | Category: Cross Stitch Blog | Response: 0

I have recently added some  new fabrics to my website.  One of my favorite is a 14 count Aida in Nordic blue.  It is a deep, rich blue.  I love it!  The different types  of fabrics and the rainbow of colors are one of my favorite things about cross stitch.  It is so much fun to try a new color for a project.

There are also several new bright colors in 28 count Linen like

    Tropical Orange

    Tropical Pink 28 count Linen

I am expecting all of these fabrics to be in stock shortly.  If you need help choosing a fabric, please send me a note and I would be more than happy to help.

  • New DMC Infusions Memory Thread

Date: 2009.06.25 | Category: Cross Stitch Blog | Response: 0

    DMC Color Infusions

36 beautiful threads designed to bring vibrant color, texture and a new dimension to paper crafting, memory crafts, art and needlework projects.

Create embellishments on paper, cards, scrapbook pages, needlework and other art and craft projects.

Each thread is hand-wrapped on clear recyclable shuttles to keep them organized and ready to use. Notches on the shuttles hold the thread in place once in use.

    DMC Color Infusions threads are:
    - Acid-free
    - Fade Resistant
    - Colorfast

    Memory Thread
A soft fiber wrapped copper wire that is easily shaped and formed to add extra dimension and texture. Use it to create embellishments for paper crafts and needlework. Currently available in 12 colors, with 6 additional colors available 9/1/09.

Memory Thread is ideal to outline designs, create shapes and words, twist into spirals, tie on to cards - the possibilities are endless! Once you start using it, you’ll think of so many other uses.

To apply Memory Thread embellishments to paper, use a quick dry glue that dries clear and is made especially for papercrafting. You should test a small piece first to ensure you have an adhesive that works.

To apply Memory Thread to needlework, simply tack it down as needed with a single strand of matching thread.

    Sparklers
Beautiful blended metallic color threads that add sparkle. Divisible into six strands. Available in 8 sparkling color blends.

Sparklers will add extra dazzle to your projects. The thread can be used by an individual strand for more delicate details or use all six strands for a bolder look.

    Silky
Highly lustrous rayon threads that add silky smoothness and sheen. Divisible into six strands. Available in 8 vibrant colors.

Silky is perfect for stitching, making fringe, tying and wrapping. You can use the strands individually for delicate details. You may want to use a thread conditioner such as Thread Heaven for stitching applications.

    Cotton Cord
Fine twisted over-dyed cotton threads with beautiful blended shades. Available in 8 colors.

Cotton cord is a dream to stitch with, it makes beautiful fringe and it is great to tie around the edge of a card or to use to tie on tags and other embellishments.

  • New Cross Stitch patterns from Heaven and Earth

Date: 2009.06.24 | Category: Cross Stitch Blog | Response: 0

Kustom Krafts started creating cross stitch patterns in 1999 in a small Northern Ontario, Canadian town. Dyan Allaire was very interested in fantasy and wild animal themes, which inspired her to create her own cross stitch charts.  Kustom Krafts  charts are very colorful and life like.   They have a wide range of patterns to choose from.  We have 150 of their pattern on our site and add more every time they release a new design.  Some of their most recent patterns are:  “Beautiful Dreamer“, “Allegory of Painting“, “Miracle“, and “Santa’s Piggybank Kit“.

    Among the new releases are:

Playful Leopards by Kustom Krafts (counted cross stitch pattern)

    Stitch Count 252 x 196

    Holiday Penquins

    Stitch Count 154 x 185

  • Needlepaints by Lavender and Lace

Date: 2009.06.18 | Category: Cross Stitch Blog | Response: 0

Lavender and Lace patterns are starting to trickle in slowly as the designer is back in business.  I have most, if not all of the patterns in stock.  Unfortunatly, I have heard that she is going to discontinue her line of Needlepaints.  I don’t have any specific information to give you on why.

However, I have come up with appropriate substitutes for the Needlepoint floss in DMC’s vast line of floss.  Their floss is actually better quality, for a much cheaper price.  DMC is actually my floss of choice.

I have many of the Needlepaints left in stock, so you can continue to purchase them as long as I have them.

  • New cross stitch patterns by Heaven and Earth

Date: 2009.06.17 | Category: Cross Stitch Blog | Response: 0

Heaven and Earth have some new patterns out this week.  Here are a few of my favorites.

Heaven and Earth Designs was created by Michele Sayetta and her husband Bob.  They previously owned a hand dyed fabric shop, but decided to switch to cross stitch patterns.  They chart the artwork of many talented designers into counted cross stitch designs.  Their designs are not computer generated.  They graph each image using engineering software  Their designs are very intricate.  They suggest you stitch them on 25 count Lugana or Dublin over one to preserve the detail.  Their designs have a “fantasy” feel to them.
