Breast Cancer Update
It
has been about a month now since I had my mastectomy. I had my
first appointment with oncology last week. The pathology report
from my surgery said that the cancer was about 5cm big. It was
about 1 mm from spreading into my chest wall, so I had it removed just
in time. They classified my cancer a IIIa because the cancer had
spread to the lymph nodes. Of the 25 nodes they took out, 7 of
them were positive for cancer. It was a fast growing, aggressive
cancer. It is not hormone based, which makes it a little more
aggressive. I start chemo in a week. I will go every two
weeks for 4 months to have an IV for 2 or 3 hours at a time. After
the 4 months I have to go every 3 weeks for an IV of Herseptin.
In the week after my chemo I have to give myself shots in my stomach of
a drug that will keep my blood count stable. I have to have blood
test every two days for a week following my treatments. So,
basically I will be living at the hospital or doctors office for the next
year. I have created a
Breast Cancer Blog on
my site for those who are interested in hearing how things are going.
I am still doing pretty good considering all I have been through in the
last few years. I really enjoy having my business to keep me busy.
It keeps my mind off worrying about cancer.

Mirabilia Issue
We still are not receiving any Mirabilia
patterns or kits. The owners and managers have not given any of my
suppliers an estimate of when they will resume business. I have
heard that there are personal issues involved, so it may be quite awhile
before they are shipping products again. I am trying to take their
products off my site as I run out of them, so what you see is what I
still have in stock.
Mirabilia patterns in stock. I am happy to take pre
orders for Mirabilia products if you e-mail me and ask me to reserve
products for you when they start to ship again. For more current
updates, please check out my new Cross Stitch Blog on my front page.

Cross Stitch Tip
One of the most
popular and easy to use fabrics for cross stitch is
Aida
fabric. It’s 100% cotton. Aida was invented in 1890
especially for cross stitch. It is sometimes called "The Cross Stitch
Fabric". 14 count is the most widely used in the group with the most
color choices, followed by 16 and then 11 count fabric. Aida fabric
consists of small squares that make it easy to count and even to
stitch. Aida is in fact, an even weave fabric. It comes in several
different counts as large as Herta (6 count) and fine as 20 count.
Herta is often used for teaching children or beginners to cross stitch
because it is easy to see. 18 and 20 count fabrics are for more
experienced cross stitchers that are looking for a finer or more
detailed look to their piece.
Aida
Country French is a cotton Aida even weave that has a soft,
luxurious texture. It is great for baby quilts, clothing or washable
items. It drapes nicely and comes in a variety of neutral colors.
What people are
saying
about us
Hello Julie
I live in Switzerland and I surf a lot. What a great website, one of the
best I have seen. You have EVERYTHING a stitcher could want. I order
from time to time on the net because here we don't have as much as I
would like. Sometimes I get orders shipped here sometimes to my daughter
(when I know I will be going to the states soon and seeing her). Do you
ship international too?
Anyway I wish you GOOD LUCK with your "shop", it deserves to succeed. I
really liked what I saw. Right now I will plan an order because I am
going to the states in April so maybe you will be hearing from me soon.
Take care, and again congratulations for such a nice place to visit with
lots to see.
