Julie's Breast Cancer
Fight
It has been 8 months now since I was diagnosed with
stage IIIa breast cancer. I had a great milestone in July. I
finished chemo. Just a few weeks later I had my first of several
reconstruction surgeries. In July the plastic surgeon inserted
what is called an expander where my right breast used to be. It
was slowly inflated with saline over several weeks until it was
stretched enough to put a permanent gel implant in. I had my second
surgery just 2 weeks ago to have the gel implant put in place of the
expander. I am feeling great.
My hair started to grow back just 2 weeks after chemo
was over. It is very thick, and really dark, but still
extremely short. I am looking forward to it being at least
an inch long so I can do something with it that resembles a feminine hair style.
Better yet, my eye brows and eye lashes have grown back, so my face has
definition again. You get tired of looking like a cue ball after
awhile. ha
I had my big planning session for radiation last
week. In October I will start going to radiation every day for 5
and 1/2 weeks. I am looking forward to getting started because
that mean it will soon be over. The most prevalent side effect
from radiations is supposed to be fatigue. The 2 hour drive round
trip alone is going to wear me down to nothing.
It has been a long, hard, road,
but I have found myself to be stronger than I ever imagined I could be.
I have pretty much maintained my normal schedule through out this whole
ordeal. Taking care of 3 kids, a husband, a home and running a
business. A positive attitude has made all the difference.
Great gift idea for the cross stitcher in your
life. GIFT CERTIFICATES from Julie's X Stitch. If you
don't know what she would like, let her decide for herself with a gift
certificate.
Cross
Stitch Tip
Choosing a pattern.
There are many, many different designers of cross stitch patterns.
Some of my favorites are
Lavender
and Lace,
Mirabilia, and
Passione Ricamo. Mirabilia chooses subjects like fairies,
queens, and fancy ladies. Passione Ricamo is inspired by romance.
Lavender and Lace designs angels, ladies, and brides.
